A Poem: Less Than A Year

This poem was written in 2018, when I met a man - we fell in love but were never together

Gaze upon me, my dear

In strong silence, not a word to flee

What's amiss in cherishing love, so free?

Less than a year, and pink blooms beneath my eyes

In autumn's embrace, my heart had to sigh

Winter whispered truths in a frosty tone

The music shifted, as did the sky's unknown

Sitting amidst the blues, in solitude, on my own

Until summer waltzed in, with a sunlit moan

Then the doors slammed shut, in echoes thrown

I'd trade the four seasons for time's precious score

For words, for our talks, extend more

Let us gaze into each other's eyes once more

Let me look at this masterpiece, in an Adam's form I so adore

But when autumn returns, in its golden glow

I'll gaze no more, wait no more

I'll walk, step forth — this life is a tragic show
